WHAT IS TAEKWONDO

Taekwondo is a martial art that originated in Korea and has gained global popularity as both a combat sport and a form of self-defense. The word "taekwondo" can be broken down into three parts: "tae" meaning foot, "kwon" meaning fist, and "do" meaning way or path. Therefore, it can be translated as "the way of the foot and fist."
Taekwondo has a rich history that dates back over 2,000 years. Its origins can be traced to various Korean martial arts, such as Taekkyon and Subak. However, the modern form of taekwondo as we know it today was developed in the mid-20th century. In 1955, a group of Korean martial artists came together and established the Korea Taekwondo Association, which standardized the techniques and training methods of taekwondo.

The values of taekwondo are deeply rooted in traditional Korean culture and philosophy. They emphasize discipline, respect, and self-control. Taekwondo practitioners strive to develop not only their physical abilities but also their mental and moral character. Some of the core values promoted in taekwondo include courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, and indomitable spirit. These values are instilled through rigorous training, which includes various techniques, patterns (forms), sparring, and self-defense drills. Taekwondo also emphasizes the development of physical fitness, flexibility, balance, and coordination.

Overall, taekwondo is not just a martial art but a way of life that promotes personal growth, character development, and a sense of community. It is practiced by millions of people worldwide and is recognized as an Olympic sport.

Along with honing our students' martial arts abilities through training, we also participate in national and international competitions, granting them the chance to exhibit their skills and compete at the highest level. We take pride in our students' achievements, and as such, we have competed in various renowned competitions such as the Scotland Championships, Heroes Championships in Thailand, Chicago Open Championships, Colorado International Open, and Melbourne Championships. Our participation in these competitions provides our students with a platform to test their skills against other accomplished athletes, broaden their experience, and foster their confidence. It also allows us to showcase the quality of our training and the excellence of our martial arts program.

In addition to our dedication to aiding others, we also arrange outreach initiatives and disaster relief missions in remote locations such as Sagada, Pulag, Mindoro, and other similar areas. These efforts are a testament to our desire to assist those in need, particularly those who are situated in regions that are often overlooked by mainstream assistance programs. By conducting these outreach programs and relief missions, we hope to provide some form of relief and support to individuals and communities that are struggling to access basic necessities such as food, shelter, education, and medical aid.
